It is with sincere sadness to say this will be my last post. From the beginning I intended to end my blog after Sean had been home for a year. The blog was meant to present a record for Sean of our adoption journey, so it has served its original purpose. It also was a great way to keep friends and family updated on our journey. I know some family members still want me to continue blogging so I might on special occasions. This blog has always been somewhat of a challenge for me as I am not much of a writer, but I found it extremely enriching and rewarding. My plan is to have it printed as a book for Sean to have and read when he is older. I'll still be reading other blogs when I have a chance. Thanks so much to everyone who has read this blog and shared their comments with us, especially when we were waiting for our referral and then during the period of time to get back to our son. The love and support and the new friendships I made through blogging means so much to me. I am so looking forward to what this New Year will bring. Best wishes to all for a very happy and healthy 2011!
I would like to give special thanks to my wonderful husband because for without his devotion and determination this Journey would of not of been possible. Because of his love and dedication not only to me but to our “family”, he brought us across the world to bring our son home! This act is something that I can never say how thankful and grateful I am to him for this. Patrick I truly love you with all my heart for our beautiful boy that I have always dreamed and hoped for. You have brought me so much happiness and gave my life so much meaning.
Always your loving wife, Sharon
Dear Sean,
We don't know, nor will we ever know what you exactly went through during the first 23 months of your life. What you felt when you got a boo-boo and no one was there to kiss it better. What it was like to go to bed without hearing a bedtime story and being kissed on your little forehead before being tucked in. What you were was certainly cared for those first 23 months as well as you could have been under the circumstances.
But God decided that you needed a Mommy and Daddy of your very own. So he sent Mommy on a mission to complete a lot of paperwork. So mommy made sure we got all of the paperwork completed as fast as I could possible do. When we started the process, we didn't know you and you didn't know us. But God knew all three of us and had already started us on a path towards each other.
There has been exactly one time in my life that I knew I was doing EXACTLY what I was put on this Earth to do, and that was adopting you. I know Daddy feels the same way about you. You are a pretty special little boy for God to have picked you out for us. We don't really understand why we got to be the lucky ones God called on to be your parents, but we will always be thankful He did.
As we continue to grow together as a family, we promise to love you every step of the way. Your boo-boos will always be kissed, and you will always be tucked in each night by your Mommy or Daddy. You have been loved each minute of your life since you were born, and you will be each minute of the rest of your life.
We are so happy to be apart of your life son.
We love you with all our hearts!
Mommy and Daddy
