10 Months Home!

Well our cutie pie has been home 10 months!!! It has just been a amazing time for our family. Sean has started horseback riding, It is a program called hippotherapy. Our O.T. who comes out to our house biweekly for Sean's early intervention services said kids really benefit from it. It will help with strengthening his muscles and improve gross motor skill and speech. It is just another means of catching him up.
He will go once a week if he likes it. I have heard so many positive things about it. His first time on the horse, he cried for almost the entire time. He was scared of the big horse "Frisco." I felt so bad for him, but I know it will be really good for him in the long term. I hope it will get better each time he goes. This is a great activity that I hope he will enjoy since I grew up on a farm as a kid and loved riding myself. His father has him watching John Wayne cowboy movies and teaching him to walk with the Dukes' unique gait! "That will be the day, pilgrim!"
Well with summer coming to a end we are getting to the pool as much as possible and we took Sean to the beach today in Madison for the first time he went swimming in the Long Island Sound. He will get a chance to swim in the ocean next month when we go on our first family vacation to the Jersey Shore!!! :)

Poor little guy...He did look cute in his bike helmet.

Putting him on the horse backwards is apart of the therapy. Sean did not cry as much when riding this way.

He was so cute watching Frisco eat his carrot.

I think he was thinking, wow... All gone.

He was happy to run around after his ride..

Sean and dad having a great day together while mom relaxes a little.

It was a lot more work going to the beach.. Mom was tired!

Sean just waiting for mom to take him in the water and thinking that sure is big pool!!

Love seeing the updates and pictures! Nicholas did hippotherapy and loved it!! It was a lot of fun and he definitely benefited! Hopefully he'll get used to it soon, most kids need a couple sessions to feel comfortable. Good luck...

As an OT, I'm thrilled to see that Sean is getting hippotherapy! I'll be looking forward to hear how future sessions go.

Wow --- you're soon approaching the one year mark. Means your 1st year PPR must be right around the corner, eh? Fun times!

Blessings,
Laura
