A New Year and 3 Months Home!

It is hard to believe we have been home 3 months with our son Sean and we went through our first holiday season together! Patrick and I were recently watching our video from our first trip to Russia and it is so amazing how much Sean has grown. He was my baby boy in June when we first met him and now is my little boy! He has changed so much over the past several months.

I thought I would re-cap some things Sean has been doing.

He does something new every day to make us laugh. The best for me is seeing him laugh. He is also becoming bolder (Irish slang) everyday. He is testing mom and dad and when we tell him “No don't touch!” or “don't do that!” he likes to yell "ya" back at us or he just laughs really hard. We think it is funny, but try not to let him know that.

Sean is still a great sleeper and still takes us to his crib when he is tired. Eating crunchy or hard food is still a challenge. Sean is really starting to play with his food and he does like Italian food like pasta, chicken and eggplant parm, meatballs, and vegetables like carrots and broccoli.
We are trying to get Sean to feed himself and to use his fork or spoon. He will not take any food in his mouth unless it is on a spoon or fork. He does take the spoon out of his mouth and gives it back to mom. He still does not like milk or sweets. I guess I still have to eat all the chocolate chip cookies myself for now.

He is really starting to navigate the stairs as he sits on his butt and goes down and holds our hand going up. Sean is still expressing himself by singing and babbling away. He is also starting to us his words. So far we have heard just in the last two days, "dogie" (3 times), "up" and I heard "mama "again. I love when he is going around the house yelling in his own words. Some mornings he is awake very early and we can hear him singing away in his crib.

Sean’s attachment with us is getting stronger every day. He likes it when his daddy shows him something new. Whether it be a toy or something on the computer like elmo's world. He also enjoys sitting with us more for some quiet time and likes mom to rub his back with one of his toy trucks. One time I just rubbed him on his back with it and now he brings it to me and lays down for me to rub his back, it is too cute! Sean likes to come into our bed and lay there with us and play. He is very affectionate with us in his own silly ways and loves to make faces with us.

Sean also is getting much better outside he now takes my hand and leads me across the front yard right through the snow. He is getting more confident in himself with walking outside everytime we venture out.

Today is not only special because Sean has come home on this day but also 2 years ago today we decided to adopt and his grandpa who he was named after passed away. We went to church today for a special mass for him. We miss you poppy. Sean was happy to play with his cousin Madalyn after the service was over.

With everyday that passes we fall more in love with our beautiful son.

Here are some random pics of our New Year so far.

Sean happy to be in his room.

He looks great. What a big boy he is becoming. And more cute every day. It is amazing to watch them grow and learn new things. As for becoming bolder....watch out. It's just the beginning. Now I'm told "NO!" at least 10 times a day. And Colby's new favorite saying, "Oh no goodness". Very cute.
