The Beginning

Our first posting. It took awhile to get this blog set up, but here we go. We hope to keep everyone updated throughout this exciting time. Patrick and I are truly happy to take this leap of faith and have been blessed to have the support of our friends and family.

After a two years of hoping for a child, we realized adopting was the best way to make our dream come true in completing our family. We also discussed the fact that there are so many children all over the world that need a home and we wanted to do our part and bring a child home. On this day one year ago, and sadly after Patrick's dads passing, is when we knew we would be going on this journey to find our son.

We decided on Russia, because we have friends that have brought home two siblings and they are great kids! I have worked with someone who also had success in bringing home a little girl from Russia. When we first started this journey our agency told us the wait was only 0-3 months. That quickly became a 4-6 month wait and now it is 5-9 month wait. We thought Christmas time he would be home, and yet the wait goes on...

Our paperwork is in Bryansk Region and we are officially waiting for our referral, for a 8-16 month old boy. We are hoping and were told by our agency that April will be the first time we will be traveling to Russia. It has been 1 year since our decision to adopt and we are so looking to becoming a family of Three in 2009.

In the meantime we are keeping busy trying to learn some Russian, but "nyet" doing too well. But getting some laughs.

Bryansk is right above the last letter in
Ukraine ( right above the E).
7 hour train ride from Moscow.
